Frequently asked questions

Pick a riding style and a rider whose riding you want as your guide, then answer a few questions about your body, stance, and how hard you ride. Our calculation engine works out the geometry that fits you. You then choose graphics to finish it.

No. Some of them ride at a very high level, but they are not our pro-riders and their boards are not pro-models. They are riders who designed their own Custom Cult board and generously opened up the math behind it as a design guide for everyone. On this site we call that guide an algorithm.

Yes, and we encourage it. Not everyone needs a custom shaped board. Most riders are near the average for body and riding preferences, and many can find what they need at a local shop. Custom Cult is here for everyone else.

No. What you design is yours. Nothing you design or buy is opened to other riders unless you choose to become a designer, and you choose which board to open.

Yes. You can upload your own artwork for the topsheet, position it on the board, and we print it as part of your custom board.

If you'd rather generate art, you can describe what you want and our AI image tool creates topsheet artwork for you to position and ride. You're responsible for not requesting artwork that copies someone else's protected work.

Yes. We won't print:

1. Illegal content, and anything sexualising minors. We also report it to the authorities and preserve it; we never delete it.
2. Hate symbols and slurs directed at protected groups.
3. A private person's photo or likeness without their consent, or anything implying a real person endorses the board. Satire and caricature of public figures are not covered by this.
4. Someone else's artwork, photograph, logo or trademark without the right to use it. What matters is who made the art, not what it shows.
5. Credible threats or incitement.

Reported designs may be restricted from our sharing pages; you can still order. To report a shared board, open the menu on that board and choose Report this graphic, or write to support@customcult.com.

Every Custom Cult board is built by hand after you order, so it isn't pulled off a shelf. Plan on roughly 6 to 8 weeks from order to shipment. You'll get an order confirmation right away and email updates as your board moves through production.

We ship across the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii), to Canada, and internationally. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your destination.

Yes. After you order you'll receive an order confirmation with a link to your order page, and we email you at each step of production and when your board ships.

You can cancel a custom order yourself up until the day before production starts on your board. After production begins, reach out to support and we'll help where we can, but a board that's already being built can't be changed.

Custom boards are made to order specifically for you, so they generally can't be returned the way a stock product can. If something's wrong, contact us. We want you on a board you love.

Apparel and accessories: exchange or refund within 30 days of delivery, in new condition. Email support@customcult.com to start one.

Get in touch right away with photos. We stand behind every board we build and will make a manufacturing defect or shipping damage right.

We accept major credit and debit cards through Stripe, our payment processor.

Yes. Payments are handled by Stripe and we never store your full card details on our servers.

Applicable sales tax is calculated automatically at checkout based on your shipping destination.

All prices are shown and charged in US dollars (USD).

No. You can design and explore a board without signing up. A free account keeps your saved designs, and you'll need one to place an order.

Use the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page. We'll email you a secure link to set a new one.

Yes. You can sign in with either Google or Apple, or with your email and a password.

You can request deletion from your account settings. We anonymize your personal information and keep anonymized order records as required for accounting and tax. There's a 30-day grace period before deletion is finalized.

A designer is a rider who designed their own Custom Cult board and opened up the math behind it as an algorithm for others to build on. Some designers are also artists and offer their topsheet art along with their design.

Buy the board you designed. Then open Become a designer from your account, choose that board, pick a display name, and accept the Designer Terms. That is the moment the math behind your board opens to everyone. Until then nothing is shared.

Yes. When a rider buys a board built on your algorithm, you earn a share of that sale, the way an artist earns a royalty on a print. If someone shared the board that led to the sale, they earn a share too. There is no fee to become a designer and nobody to recruit. The only board you ever buy is your own. Designers who have not connected a payout account share for free.

Payouts run through Stripe. Connect a payout account from your dashboard and accept the Designer Terms, and your share is paid after each board is delivered. Sales from the 90 days before you connect count too.
